“Fusing heart-racing performance and design aesthetics, Renault has released their 221kW Megane R.S. TROPHY.”

In its 15th year, the first Renault Megane R.S. TROPHY was launched in 2005 after the release of the Megane II R.S. Fusing heart-racing performance and design aesthetics, the French automaker has yet again launched their new Megane R.S. 300 TROPHY following its current model’s Megane TROPHY appearance in 2018 July.

Drawing its prowess from F1, the new Megane R.S. 300 TROPHY features a four-wheel steering control which aids in a smaller turning radius, better stability and quicker steering response. Handling dynamics are thanks to a standard Cup chassis with Brembo brakes in bi-material discs providing optimum braking performance.

Similar to its R.S. TROPHY sibling, the 300 TROPHY is powered by a 1.8-litre turbo engine with an output 221kW and 400Nm or 420Nm on the dual-clutch EDC gearbox. The R.S. driving experience is further enhanced through advanced and engaging technology such as the R.S. Monitor and Race Mode, for an “augmented” driving experience. A new intelligent exhaust valve system contributes to maximizing engine performance. A valve system – actuated automatically depending on the driving mode selected via the Multi-Sense mode – offers a grandiose dual sound.

The 300 TROPHY rides on Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres for exceptional grip and response. The rubbers also envelop 19-inch Jerez triple tone alloy wheels. Trophy insignia can be seen on the car’s side panel.

Within the TROPHY’s cabin is an Alcantara steering wheel with a Zamac Aluminium gear knob lever with red topstitching that can be seen also on the handbrake and upholstery. The pinnacle of R.S. design and comfort has to be the Recaro Bucket seats, in Alcantara upholstery, which allow the driver’s position to be lowered by up to 20mm. The position of the rigid bucket seat can be finely adjusted, while the Alcantara contributes to giving perfect support under driving conditions.

Advanced technology within the sporty cockpit has been designed with extreme driving pleasure and comfort in mind. The Renault Sport Multimedia System includes a convenient portrait sized R-LINK 8.7” touchscreen, satellite navigation system with South African maps, Bluetooth, USB and AUX input to keep one entertained – and on the right road. Further innovative features include Dual Zone climate control, cruise control with speed limiter, a unique Renault hands-free key card for keyless entry, and automatic lights and wipers which all aid in keeping one comfortable and safe in the journey.

To facilitate peace-of-mind driving, the New MEGANE R.S. TROPHY model range comes standard with a 5-year/ 90 000km Service Plan, plus a 5-year/150 000km mechanical warranty and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty. Services take place at 10 000km intervals.
