A gradual segment growth that started in 2014 contnuing till 2018 has led the German automaker to introduce their new compact SUV Volkswagen T-Cross which will slot under the Tiguan on Volkswagen’s product portfolio.
Built on the same MQB platform as the current Polo, the T-Cross is 4 237mm long with a wheelbase of 2 551mm and is 1 584mm high ensuring large cabin space. It has a practical boot space of 377 litres which can be expanded to 455 litres if second row seats are moved forward and 1 281 litres if seats are lowered.
The T-Cross will be available with optional LED headlights with wheel sizes of up to 18 inches. The interior of the T-Cross is similar to that of the new Polo and will be offered with optional Active Info Display. A host of standard as well as optional driver assistance features will be available in the T-Cross.
Pre-orders of VW’s compact SUV will start mid-year with an official launch follwing towards the end of 2019. Starting price of the Volkswagen T-Cross will be R300 000.
Also making its way to our shores in 2020 is the two-tone premuim, sporty and stylish T-Roc.
